In Chhattisgarh, efforts have started to increase the income of farmers through the cultivation of lac. For this, training is being given to the farmers. To promote Lac Cultivation, a training program is being organized by the State Minor Forest Produce Association till June 26. Under this, experts are collecting interested farmers and telling them how there will be more income if they follow lac. In this connection, training was organized from 20 to 21 June at Bhanu Pratappur. Whereas farmers will be trained about rearing Kusumi lac in Katghora from 23rd to 24th June and Rangini lac rearing in Ambikapur from 25th to 26th June.
Lac is mainly used in make-up and decoration things. It is a versatile product that fetches good price to the farmers. Lac insects are reared on safflower, ber and palas trees. They get food by sucking the juice from their branches. They secrete resin for their protection and make armor. Which is removed by scraping from the twigs. This is called lakhs. Farmers can earn from 15 to 20 thousand rupees per tree. The cultivation of lac has got the status of agriculture in Chhattisgarh.

For this purpose, lakhs of farmers of Korba, Katghora, Dhamrajaigarh, Raigarh, Jashpur, Rampur, Kawardha and Bilaspur and training site Ambikapur in Koriya, Manendragarh, Balrampur, Surajpur, Surguja, Marwahi and Katghora will participate in the training to be organized at Katghora on June 23. Training for lac rearing will be given by AK Jaiswal, former Principal Scientist of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He will give a presentation about its cultivation.
