Onkar Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, had told that the network of agricultural education system of our country is one of the largest network in the world, which includes 63 State Agricultural Universities, 04 Recognized Universities, 03 Central Agricultural Schools. And the Agriculture Faculty of 04 Central Universities is included. This means that in a country where the network of agricultural education system is one of the largest networks in the world, then you can get an idea of how big funds would be needed to run such a large network. This entire network serves only one purpose, betterment of agriculture and development of farmers in the country. If the network is big then it is obvious that many people will also be connected to it. Those who are associated with this network are getting government salary, but the question is what are they getting for whom this entire network works.
On Kisan Diwas, it is important to know that so many people are working together for the development of agriculture and farmers in the country, then how far has the development of agriculture and farmers happened, because it is also a fact that a farmer of Jharkhand if he If he is not able to sell the paddy planted in one acre at MSP, then he saves a maximum of 10 thousand rupees, that too in five months, that is, if a farmer cultivates only paddy then his earning is 2000 rupees per month. This is a day’s earnings of the officers of the Agriculture Department and the officials of the Agricultural University, or it can be more.
Farmers do not get benefits of schemes
Let’s talk about Jharkhand. The state government claims that the number of farmers in Jharkhand is 58 lakh. Various schemes are being run at the state level for the development of these farmers. From loan waiver to giving seeds in grant, schemes like this are for the farmers. But the question is how many farmers are there who get the benefit of the seed distribution scheme. Talking to the small and marginal farmers of Mandar block, it comes to know that most of the farmers are such that till date they have not got the seed in the grant, or by the time the seed is given, the time for planting it in the field is over. Most of the farmers are unable to sell paddy in the lamps.
Farmers have trouble taking big loans
Young farmer Abhiram Oraon tells that he has got the benefit of KCC scheme only. Have tried many times to take advantage of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, but till date they have not got the benefit. It is not that the benefits of these schemes have not been received. But those who are aware farmers, do good farming, they get the benefits of the schemes. Talking about an example, a scheme of Rs 25 lakh comes to build a shedhouse, in which a grant of Rs 18 lakh 75 thousand is available, but the farmer has to pass the loan from the bank. You can understand very well how difficult it is for a farmer to take a loan of Rs 25 lakh from the bank. Even on this, only a select number of sheds are given every year for shed construction.
Lack of awareness among farmers
For the development of farmers in Jharkhand, officers and employees have been appointed from block level to district and state level. Apart from this, there are Krishi Mitras who help the farmers in the village. Also 18 Krishi Vikas Kendras have been set up, apart from this ATMA centers have been set up from where farmers are given training in modern agriculture. OFAJ (Organic Farming Authority of Jharkhand) has been formed to promote organic farming. Even after this, most of the farmers are doing chemical farming. In the name of organic farming or natural farming, it is clearly said that production will decrease. The land is small, there is a lack of awareness in how the livelihood will run. The new method is also funded to spread propaganda among the farmers, despite this why the farmers are not aware.
sincere lack of effort
Farmers and people associated with the system designed for the development of agriculture get good salary, but what do farmers get, from seed to market, farmers are cheated. An official associated with the Agriculture Department, on the condition of anonymity, says that everyone talks about the development of farmers and agriculture, but no one makes sincere efforts. Otherwise today the picture of agriculture of our state would have been different. This year 36 schemes were prepared by the Agriculture Department, but till a month ago, work on 29 had not even started.
