In view of the boycott of Kashmir Pandits, there is a possibility of silence this time in the Kheer Bhavani fair. People are not going there for fear of attacks, although it is being said that people of Jammu region can attend the fair and a large number of people have registered here.
Construction of temple over holy spring
Kheer Bhavani Temple is located in Tulla Mulla village, 27 km from the capital city Srinagar. The goddess is known as Kshir Bhavani or Maharagya Devi. Maa Raganya Devi is depicted as a holy spring. The waterfall of Kheer Bhavani is very big and it is worshiped here on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits. Mata Kheer Bhavani is the Kuldevi of Kashmiri Pandits.
The temple dedicated to Goddess Mata Kheer Bhavani (originally Bhavani Mata) has been constructed over a holy spring. The temple-spring complex is affectionately known as Kheer Bhavani as thousands of devotees offer milk and ‘kheer’ in the holy spring.
Kheer Bhavani Mela is an annual festival. Devotees of Maa Kheer Bhavani observe a fast and gather here on the eighth day of the full moon in the month of May-June. The temple has been built over a holy spring. The color of this waterfall also changes and it is believed that through this one gets to know about the coming good and bad days.
