Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said the Sangh Parivar wants to destroy the democratic and secular fabric of the country to establish a Hindu Rashtra and the only obstacle before it in achieving this is the history of India. Vijayan said that while protecting the history of our country and fighting efforts to change it, it is equally important to bring out the real face of those who want to destroy it.
The Left leader was speaking at the inaugural session of ‘Malabar Uprising, 100 Saal, 100 Seminar’ organized by CPI(M) youth wing DYFI. The chief minister’s remarks come at a time when there is a heated debate in the state over whether the 1921 Malabar Rebellion or “Moplah Rebellion” in the northern part of the state was a rebellion against the British or a communal riot.
Vijayan said, “The most important agenda of the Sangh Parivar is to break the history of our country. The Sangh Parivar wants to destroy the democratic secular and socialist fabric of our country for the establishment of a Hindu Rashtra and the only obstacle before them in achieving this is the history of India. Vijayan said, “An attempt is being made to glorify those who betrayed our freedom struggle.
He said that there was an attempt by the Sangh Parivar to “validate” some people as freedom fighters, while they never took part in our freedom struggle, but were in support of the British. Vijayan said that the Sangh Parivar wants the young generation of India to move ahead without knowing the real history of the country and without understanding the values of the Renaissance. The Chief Minister said, “The attack against the Malabar insurgency is part of his campaign. Any injustice done to history cannot be forgiven.” Vijayan said the Sangh Parivar was using the same words and tactics of the British to demean the Malabar rebellion and remove it from history.
