Hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits gathered for the last rites at Rahul Bhat’s residence in Jammu on Friday. Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit president Ravindra Raina and other party leaders also attended the funeral, but they had to face the ire of members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha met the family members of government employee Rahul Bhat of the Kashmiri Pandit community and assured them of justice. Manoj Sinha said that terrorists and their supporters will have to pay a very heavy price for this heinous act. The Lieutenant Governor met the relatives of Kashmiri Pandits amid the ongoing protests in the Valley against the killing of Rahul Bhat. He tweeted that he met the relatives of Rahul Bhat and assured the family of justice. The government stands with the family of Rahul Bhat in this hour of grief. Manoj Sinha said that terrorists and their supporters will have to pay a very heavy price for this barbaric act.

Rahul Bhat, who got the job of a clerk under the special employment package for migrants in Jammu and Kashmir in 2010-11, was shot dead by terrorists in Chadoora town of Budgam district on Thursday. Members of the Kashmiri Pandit community are protesting, accusing the government of failing to protect their lives. They are also demanding from the government to make adequate arrangements for the safety of the community.
