In Jabalpur village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, suspected militants opened indiscriminate firing on two local civilians on Saturday evening, in which they were seriously injured. Both the injured civilians were taken to the nearest hospital with immediate effect, but a young man died on the way. At the same time, the condition of one was serious and finally he also broke into the hospital. After the firing, the attackers escaped from the scene as soon as they got a chance.
A senior officer of the Kashmir Zone Police said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the duo, injuring them. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where one of them, Abdul Azim Pare’s son Sanjid Ahmed Pare (19), was declared dead, while Ghukalam Qadir Bhat’s son Shaan Bhat was referred to SKIMS Hospital Srinagar, but his Has also died. Terrorist killed in encounter in Shopian
On the previous day, a terrorist was killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. A police officer had said that the security forces had conducted a search operation in Ganovpora village of Shopian district after receiving a notification about the presence of terrorists. During the operation, the militants opened fire on the security forces, after which it was turned into an encounter. One terrorist was killed in the encounter. An AK rifle and some other incriminating material were recovered from the encounter site.
Woman died in explosion in Kupwara district
Earlier, a 19-year-old girl was killed and her mother was injured in an explosion in Kupwara district. A police officer had said that Sara Begum (49) and her daughter Gulnaz Bano, hailing from Sharkut Vilgam area of Handwara, had gone to the forest to collect vegetables on Wednesday and possibly a shell of bombs had come from the forest with them. When he opened the bag of vegetables, there was an explosion which injured both. Both were taken to a hospital, where Gulnaz died.
