Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India was the fastest to deliver 100 million doses of the vaccine and was also at the forefront of introducing vaccination to people over 18 years of age.

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the ongoing vaccination campaign to defeat the corona infection in the country. He said that India’s immunization campaign is unmatched in its scale and despite a large population of more than 135 crores, the vaccination campaign is progressing smoothly. In Jammu and Kashmir alone, the first dose of vaccine has been given to about 66 percent of the population above the age of 45 years.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India was the fastest to deliver 100 million doses of vaccine and was also at the forefront of introducing vaccination to people above 18 years of age. Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that instead of politicizing the issue, everyone should cooperate to make India’s vaccination campaign a mass movement.
People hesitated about the vaccine
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the initial hesitation and apprehension of the people about the vaccine has been removed. Today, in all parts of the country, all eligible age groups are leaving for vaccination in large numbers. He said that the second wave of pandemic further reiterated the need for all individuals to get vaccines.
Corona case increasing in Jammu and Kashmir
On the recent outbreak of Corona in Jammu and Kashmir, Jitendra said that from late April and early May, entire Jammu and Kashmir especially Jammu district has shown an increase in positivity rate and mortality. This became a matter of concern for the administration and also created apprehension in the society. However, he said that in the last one week, these parameters and positivity rates have been seen to fall.
The death rate in Jammu and Kashmir was at peak around 17 May, but now it is showing progressive decline. He said that another happy thing is that about 66 percent of the people above 45 years of age have received their first dose of vaccine in the Union Territory.
North Eastern states becoming Corona hot spots
Referring to the news of turning into a hot spot in the Northeast, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that there is no doubt that in recent times, North Eastern states which were unaffected in the first wave. Now a rapid increase is seen in corona cases here. But preparations are complete to handle the situation satisfactorily.
