The government is bringing new rules to curb pollution and carbon emissions. Real-time driving emissions from April 1 (rde) and BS6 Stage 2 norms will come into force. Vehicles that do not follow the new rules will not be sold. According to reports, Maruti Alto, Hyundai i20 The sale of 17 cars including diesel will be stopped. But the big question is what will happen to the old model vehicles. Along with the answer, we will also see what options the government has left for the existing car owners.
The existing cars had to undergo a number of upgrades to comply with the new emission norms. This would have increased the cost of car companies significantly. At the same time, there are some cars which are not a profitable deal to upgrade. In such a situation, auto companies are stopping the sale of some models of cars. After a few days the sale of 17 cars will be stopped. However, car companies have started introducing updated models as well.

However, the government has definitely made a policy for unfit vehicles, through which car owners will be greatly benefited. Vehicle Scrapping Policy
The name of the policy we are talking about is Vehicle Scrapping Policy. Government of India provides scrapping facility for old and unfit vehicles to reduce pollution. Under this, both commercial and private vehicles can be scrapped. For example, if your car is more than 15 years old, then you can take the benefit of scrap policy.
You will get these benefits
Vehicles whose registration and fitness certificate are not valid can be scrapped. Scrap policy will be beneficial for those people who want to buy a new car instead of the old one. The government gives this benefit on the scrapping policy.
- On giving the vehicle to the scrapping center, about 4-6 percent of the ex-showroom price of the new vehicle will be given as scrap value.
- On buying a new model, exemption on registration fee and concession on motor vehicle tax will be given.
- Apart from this, car companies have been requested to give a discount of 5% on new vehicles purchased under the scrap policy.
