The DGCA has said that the behavior of IndiGo employees with the differently-abled child at Ranchi airport on May 7 was wrong and it worsened the situation. Earlier, the DGCA’s Fact Finding Committee had found IndiGo employees violating the rules.

DGCA said on the decision to impose fine on IndiGo, “Based on the findings during the investigation in the case of landing of a disabled child at Ranchi, a show cause notice was issued to IndiGo Airlines through an authorized representative. In view of this, the competent authority in DGCA has decided to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the airline under the provisions of the relevant Aircraft Rules.”

Indigo gave this clarification
After the incident, on May 9, IndiGo said in its statement that the handicapped child was not allowed to board the plane because he was clearly nervous. After the child was not allowed to board the flight from Ranchi to Hyderabad, his parents also decided not to board the plane.
IndiGo employees did not work as per rules: DGCA
The DGCA had issued a notice to the company saying, as per the inquiry of the committee, IndiGo employees did not treat the passengers properly and thus did not act in accordance with the applicable rules. DGCA said that in view of this, it was decided to issue show cause notice to the company through its authorized representative.
