India on Friday bluntly said that it wants relations with Pakistan like a normal neighboring country. India said it is the responsibility of Islamabad to take “credible” action to create a conducive environment so that no territory under its control is allowed to be used for terrorism against India. During a debate on the annual report in the General Assembly of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), India said that the issues between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally.
Regarding India’s foreign policy towards Pakistan, a statement was made by the Ministry of External Affairs in the Rajya Sabha that New Delhi has tried to establish normal relations with Islamabad. Along with this, Pakistan was also criticized for raising internal matters of India like Kashmir during the debate. Giving India’s statement on the Security Council report at the 78th Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly, Counselor of India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, R. Madhu Sudan said that Pakistan did not take care of the dignity of this prestigious forum.
“Issues like Jammu and Kashmir are internal affairs of India”
This comment of India has come about the raising of the issue of Kashmir on behalf of Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram. Sudan (R. Madhu Sudan) said, “It is unfortunate that Pakistan continues to engage in theatrical performances, which is against the dignity of this prestigious stage. But it has also become clear that this delegation can no longer fool the international community. Sudan said, “The decisions taken by the Parliament of India regarding the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are internal matters of India.”
“Issues should be resolved in an environment free from terrorism and violence”
The counselor said, “India wants to have a normal neighbour-like relationship with Pakistan. It has always been our stand that any issue between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully in an environment free from terrorism, enmity and violence. It is the responsibility of Pakistan to create such a conducive environment to take a ‘credible’ action so that no territory under its control is allowed to be used for terrorism against India.
In recent days, the Pakistani army has also changed its tone.
Surrounded by terrorism in the world and facing financial crisis, the tone of Pakistan has started changing. In recent months, the Pakistani political and military leadership has softened the rhetoric against India. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that India should take the first step to improve bilateral relations by finding a solution to the Kashmir issue. At the same time, after the Imran government, now the army of this country has also chanted the melody of peace.
Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had said in March that stabilizing relations between India and Pakistan is essential to unlock the potential of South and Central Asia by ensuring connectivity between East and West Asia. He had said that India and Pakistan should forget the past and move forward and for this the responsibility of a meaningful dialogue lies with India.
