The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Saturday that India has set a new record of conducting 400 million COVID-19 tests in the month of June with an average of over 18 lakh tests per day. India has tested 40,18,11,892 samples across the country till Friday. The country had tested 35 crore COVID-19 samples till June 1, 2021.
Earlier, India had conducted 1 crore corona tests on 7 July last year. After this, 10 crores on 23 October, 20 crores on 6th February, 25 crores on 6th April, 30 crores on 8th May and 35 crores corona tests were completed on 1st June. ICMR said that on Friday, 17,45,809 sample tests were done for coronavirus in the country. At the same time, in a statement, it has been greatly strengthened by increasing the rapid test infrastructure and capacity across the country.

ICMR Director General Professor Balram Bhargava said that due to the rapid increase in tests, early detection of COVID-19 cases, prompt isolation and effective treatment have also led to a significant reduction in the number of deaths.

At the same time, after the arrival of 48,698 new cases of corona in the country in the last 24 hours, the total number of positive cases has increased to 3,01,83,143. At the same time, after 1,183 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the total death toll has increased to 3,94,493. Apart from this, after 64,818 new discharges in the last 24 hours, the total number of discharges has gone up to 2,91,93,085. At present, the total number of active cases in the country is 5,95,565.
