Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in association with WOW Go Green organized a ten-day training on the use of drones in agriculture to generate new entrepreneurs from villages. A total of 36 participants including progressive farmers, entrepreneurs, FPOs, cooperatives etc. from different states participated in the training programme. This training was unique and first of its kind in the country for the farmers. At the start of the training, the first participants learned to fly the small drone. After this, gradually they were trained to fly drones in increasing order. Then finally all the participants flew agricultural drones. The participants of the program had never even touched the drone, but after getting training successfully flew the agricultural drone. The participants successfully trained using agri-drones are called “Green Pilots”.
Training will provide a new way to use technology
The program was inaugurated by Dr. US Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO and said that the use of drones in agriculture is a step forward for modern precision farming. This will not only reduce the cost to the farmers but will also help in increasing the production and quality of the crops. It will also prepare village entrepreneurs, thus training in drone technology will be highly beneficial for the farmers. Yogendra, Marketing Director, IFFCO said that the program will provide a new avenue for the use of new technologies in agriculture.

A 15-minute flight of Agri-drone can spray fertilizer in an area of 2.5 acres. This is IFFCO’s step towards Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Krishi and Atmanirbhar Bharat by training farmers in modern agricultural technologies and helping them to double their income by 2025. This is IFFCO’s pioneering step towards modern farming practices that will take India forward.

Under Secretary appreciated the program
Sachin Kumar, Under Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture (Department of Fertilizers), Government of India, while addressing the Green Pilots during his visit to FMDI, praised and appreciated the training program of IFFCO. Joint Managing Director, IFFCO, in his address during the concluding session of the training program, said that the business model developed by IFFCO and WOW for entrepreneurs is an achievable model and has great potential for success. IFFCO’s FMDI trains thousands of farmers and farming enthusiasts in various aspects of agriculture. It is one of the best farmer training institute with residential facilities for more than hundreds of trainees. It is regularly visited by experts and scientists from other premier institutes like IFFCO and ICAR.
