Farmers associated with horticulture can earn double profits by cultivating black pepper. Actually, pepper plants grow on the support of the tree. When the plant is ready to give crop, then a profit of about 10 to 15,000 can be taken from a tree. Sometimes rising prices in the market give more profit to the farmer. Cultivation of black pepper does not require much effort. Timely care is enough. Along with this, many saplings can be prepared from a pen through a tree, from which farmers can start their own nursery business if they want.
The scientific name of black pepper is Piper nigrum. It can be easily grown in an area with a temperature of 10 to 40 degree centigrade. In black pepper, 5 to 9 percent of alkaloids called piperine, piperidine and chavicine are found. It contains 1 to 2.6 percent aromatic oil. The leaves of the pepper plant are oblong. The length of the leaves is 12 to 18 cm and width is 5 to 10 cm. White colored flowers emerge in the plant.
