An incentive of 1,500 will be given every month to third and final year students and lab staff of nursing students, general nursing and midwifery (GNM) posted on Kovid duty in Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced on Tuesday that the state’s doctors and medical staff performing duty during the Corona crisis by the month of June this year, Financial Incentive will be given. He said that an incentive of 3,000 per month to 4th and 5th year MBBS students, junior and senior residents along with doctors working on contracts, while third and final year students of Nursing Students, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Lab. The staff will be given an incentive of 1,500 every month.
The Chief Minister made this announcement during a virtual meeting of officials convened in Kangra district (Kangra) in view of the sharp rise in epidemic cases. In this meeting, he also reviewed the state’s preparedness and oxygen supply for Corona patients. Subsequently, the Chief Minister visited Radhaswami Satsang Vyas in Paraur in the district and directed the authorities to construct a covid care center with a capacity of 250 beds within the next 10 days, the capacity of which would later be increased to around 1,000 beds.
Directive to increase the availability of ICU beds in Kangra
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said that 3,59,489 samples have been tested so far in the district, out of which 19,570 people have reported to be Corona positive. Prajapati further said that the vaccination campaign is going well and so far, 3,82,851 doses of corona vaccine have been given.
The Chief Minister has directed the officials to ensure proper supply of oxygen and increase the availability of ICU beds in Kangra. Also, he said that private labs should be made mandatory for RT-PCR testing and results as soon as possible. He also said that apart from making adequate arrangements to leave the Corona patients home after treatment, a full proof system should be prepared for the patients in the hospitals.
Ongoing preparations for making Kovid centers in many places
The Chief Minister said that adequate oxygen supply will be ensured to about 1,400 beds in health institutions. Apart from Kovid Center with a capacity of 1,000 beds to be built at Parour, efforts are being made to build 200 beds at Radha Swami Satsang Vyas campus in Mandi and 300 beds capacity at IGMCH’s new OPD block in Shimla. Simultaneously, space has also been identified to create an additional 500 beds capacity Kovid Center for Corona patients in Baddi-Barotiwala area.
