In the same month, the government announced another benefit of Rs 370 crore to the adhatiyas. Trying to please both farmers and jobbers.
Government engaged in wooing the commissioners
The Haryana government has taken a new stance to woo the angry ardhiyas (Arhtiyas). Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the jobbers, who have paid the payment of wages and wages of the previous procurement season, will get interest on the delayed payment. The Chief Minister said that the process of payment of interest will start from today itself. Bank accounts are being sent to the auditors for verification. Necessary instructions have been issued to the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department for this entire process. Explain that the adhatiyars get 2.5 percent commission on the MSP.
The Chief Minister said this while presiding over the review meeting of the Rabi procurement process with all the Deputy Commissioners and officials through video conferencing here today. Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister JP Dalal were also present in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that recently there was a meeting with the adhatis, during which important issues were discussed. The state government assured the adhatiyas that they would not face any kind of problem during the procurement.
Instructions to keep interacting with the agents
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners informed the Chief Minister that the procurement process is going on smoothly in the mandis. On this, the Chief Minister gave instructions that continuous talks should be held with the adhatiyas. Make sure that they do not face any kind of problem. The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure smooth and time bound procurement. He said that wheat procurement has started in Mandis from April 1, 2021.
The CM instructed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that farmers do not have any problem in bringing their crop to the mandis. Also, there should be proper arrangement of gate passes, computer operators, drinking water and toilets in the mandis. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Vijay Vardhan, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D.S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture Department, Dr. Sumita Mishra and Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department and Finance Commissioner Sanjeev Kaushal were present.
Why are the agents upset
The Haryana government has decided to make 100 percent online payment directly in the accounts of farmers during this year’s procurement process. Whereas earlier payments were made through adhatiyas. After cutting the arrears and their commission, the agent used to return the remaining amount to the farmers. Actually, when the farmers need money, then the artisans help them. When the crop is paid, they deduct their money. Now they are upset with the new system. In the Rabi marketing season 2021-22, the government made more than 50 percent payment directly into the farmers’ accounts.
370 crore rupees will also get this benefit
A few days ago, the Haryana government gave another relief to the adhatiyas. Under which, the dues and interest of their shops located in the mandis were exempted. There was a relaxation of 40 percent in the interest on default amount and 100 percent waiver of punitive interest. Under this, the adhatis will get a benefit of Rs 370 crore. At present, there are 2421 allotted defaulters, on whose side an amount of about Rs 1131 crore is outstanding. The effort is that the agent should be happy so that the farmers do not have to face any problem.
