Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister JP Dalal said that a target has been set to do milk production business of Rs 20 thousand crore annually in the state. Efforts are being made to fulfill this through various schemes. He said that farmers should promote milk production and milk related products to become financially strong. Along with this, new agricultural projects and horticulture should also be adopted as a business under Crop Diversification. The Agriculture Minister was addressing the cattle farmers at the cattle fair organized by the Haryana Livestock Development Board at the State Veterinary Hospital, Siwani.
Dalal said that the government is emphasizing on the rights of farmers. Schemes related to fisheries, animal husbandry, horticulture and agriculture will not only be helpful but effective in doubling the income of the farmers. He said that it has been decided to open big animal hospitals in every district and to open more than 50 animal call centers. Under this, doctors will be ready to treat serious animal diseases on a call. Will reach the animal husband’s house immediately. Processing units will also be set up for milk and agricultural products, so that farmers can be directly connected with business near them.
Milk production business of 10 thousand crores in Haryana
The Agriculture Minister said that at present, there is a milk production business of Rs 10 thousand crore in the state. The emphasis is on doubling it. Due to the NCR region, this target can be easily achieved. He said that the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries should work in coordination to strengthen the economic condition of the farmers.
Farmers grow high value crops
Dalal said that the cattle breeders should get artificial insemination done from the Jhota and bulls of Murrah breed to increase the milk production. Under crop diversification, the cultivation of fruits and flowers in horticultural crops should be increased. So that they can move towards earning cash every day. He said that this would increase the income of the farmers and bring happiness in their lives. Along with this, the economic development of the villages will also happen. He said that due to less land holding, farmers should always grow high value crops.
The Agriculture Minister said that under the PPP scheme, Mukhyamantri Gramodaya Utthan Melas are being organized to remove poverty. Under this, a target has been set to double the income of one lakh families. He distributed 120 prizes worth lakhs of rupees to the milk producers. Apart from this, an amount of Rs 3.50 lakh was also distributed to 7 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Kisan Khetihar Bima Yojana.
