Shiroman Akali Dal (Shiromani Akali Dal) Chiefs Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday launched three central agricultural laws (Farm Law) to participate in a protest march in Delhi on 17 September. The Shiromani Akali Dal had declared September 17 as “Black Day” to mark the completion of one year of the agricultural movement. SAD workers will also take out a protest march from Gurdwara Rakabganj to Parliament demanding the repeal of the three laws.
Akali Dal leader and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has appealed to the people and farmers of Punjab to celebrate Black Day together on the occasion of completion of one year of the passage of Central Agricultural Laws in Lok Sabha. Make this protest a success by participating in large numbers in the march which has been announced by the Akali Dal from Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib in Delhi to Parliament.
Harsimrat, MP from Bathinda, said that exactly a year ago this law was brought without asking the farmers and without their demand. Before passing this law, the government did not even ask allies.
AAP had targeted Akali Dal
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said that if Harsimrat Kaur Badal had not signed the Centre’s agriculture ordinances, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would not have needed to observe September 17 as ‘Black Day’. AAP MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan made this remark taking a dig at SAD’s announcement of celebrating Black Day.
Alliance broken due to agricultural law
Let us tell you that everything was not going well between Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP in the NDA since the passing of the Agriculture Act. The Kisan Act was opposed by the opposition as well as the Shiromani Akali Dal, an ally of the BJP. It had come to such an extent that even the 24-year-old friendship was broken. At that time Harsimrat Kaur Badal was a minister at the Centre. But he resigned in protest against the agricultural laws. However, when the central government brought the ordinance, the SAD supported it.
