Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has appealed to the farmers to turn to organic farming. He said that farmers should start organic farming as the use of urea and pesticides is reducing the productivity of the fields and adversely affecting human health.
CM Patel said that we have started working in this direction that how farmers should be diverted towards organic farming. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also laying great emphasis on organic farming. This is very beneficial for the farmers as the demand for organic products is increasing in the market and they get good price.
Bhupendra Patel said that in the kind of farming that is being done now, farmers plant traditional crops. Fertilizers and pesticides are used extensively in this. Along with grains, now these toxic substances are also entering the human body and this is having a bad effect on health. Keeping in mind the health of the environment and human beings, organic farming can be chosen and it is also a better option.
‘Fields becoming barren due to spraying of fertilizers and pesticides’
The Chief Minister said that turning to organic farming is a very important step to improve our future. Our fields are gradually becoming barren due to excessive use of fertilizers. Now farmers complain that our production is going down. I think the reason for this low productivity is the spraying of urea and pesticides.
In recent years, the trend of organic farming is increasing very fast in India. Due to increasing health awareness, people are now using organic products. This is the reason why farmers are adopting organic farming. Along with the central government, the state governments are also promoting organic farming. Sikkim, the state of Northeast India, has become a fully organic state. Here, organic farming is being done on about 80 thousand hectares of land and this figure is increasing.
