The Central Government has started a big facility for the employees insured from ESIC. The government on Saturday launched a preventive health checkup program for the employees of 4 major cities of the country. Union Labor Minister Bhupinder Yadav started this new facility. Employees who are above 40 years of age will be able to get free checkup done in ESI hospitals. Right now this facility has been started in ESI hospitals of Ahmedabad, Faridabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Along with this, Union Labor Minister Bhupinder Yadav also passed an old resolution demanding to build an ESI hospital. According to the resolution passed by the Labor Minister, now an ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation) hospital with 500 beds will be built in Manesar, Gurugram. At present, a 100-bed hospital is running here, instead of which a 500-bed hospital will be built.
Government will increase the scope of insurance
Speaking to the media, Bhupinder Yadav said, “We have started a pilot project under which we are providing free medical check-up facility to the Insured Persons (IP) of ESIC who are 40 years of age or above every year. We have a dream of ‘Healthy India’. We have about 35 crore IPs. So if we do preventive care as well as provide treatment in ESIC, we can have that approach.” The minister also informed that in the coming days with the implementation of social security code, the number of IPs will be increased to five crore and this pilot project will be further expanded.
ESIC to set up super specialty hospital
The minister said that ESIC also wants to bring its hospitals under the status of super specialty so that referrals to others can be reduced in the coming days. He also talked about launching a mobile app ‘Santusht’ for ESIC beneficiaries in view of the improvement in the treatment facilities.
Yadav further said that the construction of two ESIC hospitals at Bihta in Patna and Alwar in Rajasthan has been completed and they will be inaugurated soon. Giving information about the approval of the proposal for the construction of 500-bed ESIC Hospital in Gurugram (Manesar), Yadav said that the ESIC has given approval to deposit the necessary funds for this.
New hospitals being built in many states
On the request of ESIC, Haryana Government has identified 8.7 acres of land for allotment. ESIC on Saturday approved the proposal for setting up of 500 bedded ESIC Hospital at HSIIDC, Manesar and acquisition of this plot for this purpose. He also told that a 100-bed ESIC hospital will be built. The Uttar Pradesh government has identified a plot of land of 2 hectares and has given approval for free transfer of land for 90 years. ESIC on Saturday approved the proposal and process for acquisition of land identified for the construction of 100 bedded ESIC Hospital in Meerut.
