According to the Union Agriculture Ministry, a record increase of 34.86 percent has been registered in the export of agricultural products in 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20. Agricultural products worth Rs 210093 crore were exported in the year 2020-21. Whereas it was only Rs 155781.72 crore in 2019-20. Progressive farmers and people trying their hand in agri business are especially excited by this boom in exports.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar says that despite cross-border movement around the world that has been sealed due to the lockdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic, there has been a boom in the export of agricultural commodities. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, many challenges have arisen in exports. Such as non-availability of containers, heavy cargo movement and disruption of supply. However, the good thing is that the demand for Indian agricultural products is increasing all over the world. Agricultural products worth Rs 172484.38 crore were exported from India in the year 2018-19.
Export is a step to increase income
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar says that the government has taken many steps to increase the income of farmers. In which increasing agricultural exports is also one. Agri Export helps farmers to take advantage of the wide international market. Due to which the income of the farmers increases. The government has adopted several developmental programmes, schemes, reforms and policies which focus on higher income for the farmers. India is the ninth largest exporter of agricultural products in the world.
Schemes for the Promotion of Farmers
To help the farmers, the central government has created corpus funds like Micro Irrigation Fund, Agriculture Marketing Fund. 10,000 Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) campaign has been started. Efforts are on to increase the income of farmers through Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, National Beekeeping Honey Mission, Kisan Credit Card, Interest Subvention Scheme, Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) etc. An Agriculture Infrastructure Fund of Rs 1 lakh crore has also been created.

So that people pay attention towards organic and natural farming. There is a lot of potential for both domestic consumption and export of such products. Its demand is increasing worldwide. According to the Union Agriculture Ministry, there is an increase in the demand for organic products in the domestic market. The domestic market is growing at the rate of 17 per cent.
In the year 2016, the market for organic products was Rs 53.3 crore. Which is estimated to cross Rs 87.1 crore by the end of 2021. According to APEDA, organic products worth Rs 7079 crore were exported during 2020-21.
