Bihar Agriculture Minister Amarendra Pratap Singh said that the Agriculture Department has decided to increase the production of pulses and oilseeds in the Rabi year 2021-22. In view of this, many schemes are being run by the department. He said that for this, along with increasing the seed replacement rate of pulses and oilseed crops in the state, its area would also be expanded. The approval of the government has been received for implementing the Minikit program under the state plan in the Rabi season, 2021-22.
Encouraged by the good harvest of wheat and maize in Bihar, the Bihar government has now started promoting other crops to increase the income of the farmers. Agriculture Minister Amarendra Pratap Singh is now engaged in making farmers aware in different ways. This time we are running a mini kit scheme for the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds. While telling about this to NewsNCR Digital, he said that under the mini kit scheme, certified seeds of pulses and oilseed crops would be made available to the farmers on 80 percent subsidy. Under the mini insect scheme, a farmer will be provided seeds for a maximum area of 02 acres. Under this scheme, a target has been set to distribute 20,690 quintal certified seed of gram among the farmers at 80 percent subsidized rate.

Similarly, 17,325 quintals, 640 quintals and 2,260 quintals of certified seed of lentils, peas and rye/mustard will be given to farmers on 80 percent subsidy, respectively. Interested farmers can apply on DBT/BRBN portal through any Android Mobile/Computer/Common Service Center/Vasudha Kendra/Cyber Cafe for getting seeds. The Agriculture Minister said that due to the implementation of various schemes of the Agriculture Department, there has been an unprecedented increase in the production of paddy, wheat and maize in the state in the last years. But this increase could not be recorded in the production of pulses and oilseed crops.
He said that the government is also committed to increase the production of pulses and oilseed crops. The reason behind this scheme of the Bihar government is also being told that this time the farmers did not get a good price for maize, but wheat was sold at the support price. Whereas with the announcement of the support price of pulses and oilseeds, they were sold at a higher price, due to which the farmers could earn a good income. Therefore, it is the effort of the government that by changing the traditional farming method, now the farmers should be moved towards cash crops so that they can get a good price for their hard work.
