The Squared Watermelon Company of London gives the Icon Award every year to the personalities who set an example for the world. In this episode, the name of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait is also included in the nomination list for the 2021 award.

Chaudhary Rakesh Tikait, the main leader of the long-standing farmers’ movement in India and national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), for the 21st Century Icon Award-2021 (21st Century Icon Award) has been chosen. This award is given by Square Watermelon of Britain. He has been selected for this award for running a long movement and keeping the movement alive.

Born in Sisauli village of Muzaffarnagar
Rakesh Tikait is the second son of Mahendra Singh Tikait and brother of Naresh Tikait. Rakesh Tikait was born on 4 June 1969 in Sisauli village of Muzaffarnagar district. He has been recognized as such a practical leader who has been keeping the matter of practical interest of farmers in front of the government along with dharna-demonstrations, agitations. He currently heads the Bharatiya Kisan Union. He is the national spokesperson of the organization.
Even after the withdrawal of laws, Tikait is vocal about other demands
This organization is spread all over the country including Uttar Pradesh and North India. The farmers’ agitation has been going on for the last one year regarding the three agricultural laws of the Center and other demands. Which was mainly led by Rakesh Tikait. Although the central government has recently withdrawn agricultural laws after a long agitation by farmers, Rakesh Tikait is still vocal about other demands of the farmers.

At the same time, after the withdrawal of the Agricultural Act, the London company has nominated Rakesh Tikait for the award. The winners will be announced in London on 10 December. Tikait has been selected for running a long movement and keeping the movement alive. Earlier, playback singers Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Raghavendra Rathore for fashion, Dheeraj Mukherjee for technical field have received this award from the company.
