Ghaziabad News: To hasten the building of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved an allocation of 350 crore rupees. The state government reportedly issued an order addressing the distribution of cash to the managing director (MD) of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Friday, according to a government statement.
Government’s Drive to Connect Major Cities
The administration wants to increase connection between Delhi and the state’s major cities. In this light, the continuous effort is likewise regarded as a significant endeavour. The state government has allotted a total of 1,306 crores for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid train project for the fiscal year 2023–2024, of which 350 crores have already been released. “The allocation of ₹350 crore will rejuvenate and accelerate the pending tasks within the project. Specifically, the areas in Ghaziabad and Meerut that are covered by the project will receive a significant boost,” the statement added.
Delhi-Meerut High-Speed Rail Takes Shape
A semi-high-speed rail route between Delhi and Meerut is currently being built. This route will link Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. One of the three rapid rail lines envisioned by the RAPIDX Project is this one. It will be the first fast transportation project of its sort in the nation when it is finished. Currently, phase one of this project is being worked on. On March 8, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 82.15 kilometre long project. By 2025, it ought to be operational. The MD, NCRTC, has been tasked with giving the project a clear direction. The Uttar Pradesh government will periodically examine the progress of the project’s activities while it is being carried out by the NCRTC in accordance with the requirements of the Indian government.
UP Government’s Role in Rail Project
This is stated in the regulations and guidelines the Uttar Pradesh government set for the state’s participation in the project. The statement added that the approved state share money will not be taken out entirely at once but rather used as needed. “The actual implementation of the mentioned activities will begin only after obtaining technical approval at a competent level to finalise the project. The current limit for completing the allocated activities for the state part is set as March 31, 2024, and upon completion of the activities, the NCRTC will provide the utilisation certificate to the state government by April 30, 2024,” the statement said.
