Gender Gap: Huge gender gap in birth registration of these states including Haryana-Gujarat, RGI released report

The gender classification of registered births shows that in the year 2020, the number of girls registered after birth is about 4 percent less than the boys registered.

Registrar General of India of India (RGI) has presented its data regarding birth registration. According to the data prepared by him, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat (Gujarat), Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Rajasthan register more births of boys than girls in 2020 (Birth Registration) has shown a significant difference. The gender classification of registered births shows that in the year 2020, the number of girls registered after birth is about 4 percent less than the boys registered. In Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the difference in birth registration is very high, the report said.

RGI’s report ‘Vital Statistics based on Civil Registration System for the year 2020′ states that a total of 2,42,22,444 births were registered in India in 2020, of which 1,25,96,700 (52 per cent) were boys and 1,16,24,933 (48%) are girls. At the same time, the data shows that in 2020, 1443.8 girls’ births were registered in Bihar as compared to 1600.8 boys’ births per lakh population.

Know the condition of major states

At the same time, in Madhya Pradesh, in 2020, 785.9 girls were registered as compared to 867.7 boys births per lakh population. In Gujarat, 525.4 girls’ births were registered as against 577.8 boys’ births. In Haryana, 282.1 girls’ births were registered as against 309.7 boys’ births. In Jharkhand 309.2 girls births were registered as against 339.2 boys births and in Maharashtra 817 girls births were registered against 895 boys births.

What is the status of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan

The birth of 2330.1 girls as compared to the birth of 2524.0 boys was recorded in Uttar Pradesh and 892.0 girls as compared to the birth of 977.3 boys in Rajasthan. On the other hand, the share of male registrations in the country in terms of death registration is about 20.4 percent higher than that of females.
