In order to give impetus to the tourism sector, Northeast Frontier Railway is going to run Vistadome 05888 tourist special train for the first time from 28th August i.e. today. Its aim is to increase the pace of tourism in Assam. Now railway passengers can enjoy the natural beauty scattered all around in the Northeast. Anshul Gupta, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway explained the features of Vistadome in detail at Guwahati Railway Station.
He told that this project has been started in collaboration with the Assam government. This will greatly benefit the hotel industry and other sectors related to tourism in the state. Through this there was a dream to promote tourism, which is being fulfilled today. He told that while traveling in it, the entire natural beauty can be seen. Its trial was already done in South India, which was completely successful.
Train will run two days a week from today, schedule will be like this
This train will run on two Saturdays and Wednesdays in a week starting from 28th August. There are total 44 seats in Vistadome coach. The special Vistadome train service will run between Guwahati-New Haflong section and will stop at Manderdisa and Maibang stations. Later on the demand of tourists, it will be run seven days a week.
Apart from the Vistadome coach, the train will also have an air-conditioned chair car. This will be a specially reserved service with provision for advance booking. The train will depart from Guwahati at 06.35 am and will reach New Haflong at 11.55 am and will cover a distance of 269 kms via North Cachar Hill region. The return journey will leave New Haflong at 05.00 PM and arrive Guwahati station at 10.45 PM.
What is the specialty of Vistadome coach train
This train will have many unique features which will attract a lot of tourists. The Vistadome coach is fitted with state-of-the-art glass windows and an all-glass roof, which will provide tourists with a 260 degree view of the open sky, mountains, tunnels, bridges, hills and lush green forests. It will also have observation lounges for site viewing purposes. The rotational seats of the coach have been designed to provide additional comfort to the passengers.

Other highlights of Vistadome include Wi-Fi based Passenger Information System. Passenger entertainment system with digital display screen. Automatic Sliding Doors. large entrance. CC TV, Surveillance, Fire Alarm System, LED Destination Board. FRP modular toilet with pressurized flushing system is available. The modern features of this train will be successful in providing additional comfort and aesthetic experience to the tourists.
The fare will be Rs 470 to Rs 1130
The fare for the journey from Vistadome X Guwahati to New Haflong will be around Rs 1,130 (one way). The fare for AC chair car will be Rs 470 only. Booking of tickets can be done in advance through the PRS ticket window available at Railway stations. Online booking is also available on IRCTC web portal.
