Food Processing Week: 21 projects costing Rs 416.59 crore launched, Rs 13.41 crore assistance given

The government has said that 32,300 farmers will be benefited from these 21 projects, on the other hand about 7,580 new jobs will also be created and not only this, consumers will also be benefited by these projects.

The Food Processing Ministry has initiated 21 food projects.

Under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, 21 food processing projects worth Rs. Assistance in the form of seed capital of Rs 13.41 crore was also given to 4,709 members of SHGs from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

As an important episode of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, ‘Food Processing Week’ was organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India last week from 6 September 2021 to 12 September 2021. 21 food processing projects were inaugurated with an aim to provide modern infrastructure for food processing industries. The total cost of all these projects has been stated to be Rs 416.59 crore. The ministry also gave grant-in-aid of Rs 104.21 crore to all of them.

Assistance of Rs 13.4155 crore was given to 4709 members as seed capital

Assistance in the form of seed capital was also provided to the members of SHGs associated with micro enterprises in the processing sector in different states. This amount has been given to strengthen their enterprise and make their industry self-reliant. 13.4155 crore was given as seed capital to 4709 members of self-help groups of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra throughout the week.

Information on processing of food products like honey, milk, bakery etc.

Under PMFME’s important component ‘One District One Product’, 7 online-offline workshops and webinars were organized every day last week on processing and value addition of food products like honey, milk, bakery etc. The experts had to make the entrepreneurs trying their hand in the processing sector aware of the specifics of this sector and how their industry should grow and make profits.
