Ghazipur has been flooded 25 times in 53 years from 1971 to 2024. For the last two years, the water level of rivers here is continuously crossing the warning point. This time the already prepared administration has identified 252 villages, where there is a danger of floods in the coming days. These villages are divided into two categories. Monitoring is being done by keeping 128 villages very sensitive and 124 in sensitive category.
Due to the increase of Ganga in the district, Muhammadabad and Zamania tehsils lead to maximum destruction. Ghazipur district is situated on the banks of the Ganges. Along with the Ganges, other eight rivers also flow in Ghazipur, but the most floods are affected after the rising water level of the Ganges river. The situation is that people are also forced to migrate from their homes.
District administration claims preparation before flood
However, the district administration also claims preparations for flood relief before the flood. This time too, the district administration is claiming the tenders of flood relief material as well as arrangements for flood relief centers, flood posts, sailors and fishermen. The district administration already distributes the district into two categories, making arrangements, in which 128 villages fall in very sensitive and 124 villages in sensitive category.

Keeping these in mind, they are monitored. When there is flood, the most affected are villages of Mohammadabad and Zamania tehsils. Around 10 villages of Revatipur block of Ghazipur are first among the flood affected villages. The reason for this is that where the Ganges rises even a little from its normal water level, it engulfs these villages. Therefore, the district administration has a special focus on these villages.
Normal water level of Ganga is 59.906 meters
