To give relief to the farmers, the Modi government increased the subsidy of DAP five times in two years. Record DAP subsidy of Rs 50013 per tonne. For how much will you get a compost manure?

To give relief to 14 crore farmers of the country, the Modi government has increased the fertilizer subsidy. A record subsidy of Rs 60,939 crore has been released for Kharif season 2022. But, now there is a question in the mind of many farmers that after this kindness of the government, the price of fertilizer (Fertilizer Price) how much. If you don’t know, we will tell. Because of the subsidy we have here, fertilizer is the cheapest in the world. The government knows that if the burden of increasing the price of raw material is passed on to the farmers, it will increase the displeasure of the farmers, which can lead to political losses.

From the very beginning, the Modi government has kept agriculture very high in its agenda. That’s why it has not only made a record purchase of crops at MSP and is giving Rs 6000 annually to every farmer under the PM Kisan scheme, but also never put the burden of increasing the price of raw material of fertilizers on the farmers. As a result, it has to increase the subsidy every year.

How much is the subsidy at present

  • The central government is giving a subsidy of Rs 1,62,132 crore on fertilizers in 2021-22.
  • Fertilizer subsidy was only Rs 71,280 crore in 2013-14.
  • In the year 2020-21, the subsidy on DAP was Rs 10,231 per tonne (Rs 512 per bag).
  • In the year 2022-23 (from 1-04-2022 to 30-09-2023) subsidy of Rs.50013 per tonne (Rs.2501 per bag).
  • The government keeps the same rate of fertilizer in the whole country.

When will farmers get direct subsidy

At present, the government gives this subsidy to the companies. Companies provide cheap fertilizers to the farmers. But now there is a demand that instead of companies, subsidy should be given directly in the bank accounts of farmers. So that the consumption of manure is also reduced and the farmers also realize that the government is giving them something. If subsidy goes directly to the bank account of farmers, then it will also get political benefits and the game of companies consuming subsidy on paper will also stop.

However, despite the demands of all the farmers’ organizations, the government has not reached any conclusion yet. The lobby of fertilizer companies does not want this to happen at all. Whereas, the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) has also recommended direct subsidy to the farmers.

Subsidy will be 2.5 lakh crores

Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya says that despite the increase in the international prices of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and its raw material, the government has not allowed its burden on the farmers. This year, farmers will be given a subsidy of about Rs 2.5 lakh crore. Getting fertilizers at subsidized rates to the farmers will help in taking forward the agriculture sector. He said that we should make such a plan so that the use of fertilizers can be done at a balanced level at the ground level.
