According to the Indian Express report, Kashmiri Pandits living in camps and working in government jobs were talked to in the hall of Pulwama and Sheikhpora of Budgam. In these, 40-year-old government employee Amit Kaul, living in Sheikhpura camp and who became the face of the protest, said, ‘We are going back to Jammu. I have already left the camp along with five of my colleagues. Kaul said that after the murder of Rahul Bhatt, he has been requesting the government to transfer him to Jammu. Bhatt, an employee working under the PM package in the Revenue Department, was murdered inside his office in Budgam’s Chadoora on May 12.

The people living in the camp removed the protest gates from the doors on Thursday. Many of them have accepted that nothing is going to happen even by protesting. Ashwini Pandita, who lives in Sheikhpura camp, said, “The local authorities protested. He tried to close the gate in the morning. Some families have already left. Another Kashmiri Pandit government employee, who left for Jammu, said, “There is no safe place for minorities in Kashmir now.” Many are still there in the Hal camp of South Kashmir. Many of them say that they are ready to leave from here.
Arvind Pandita, who lives in the recent camp, says, ‘We are all talking to each other about when we have to leave. There is a general consensus among all the employees that we have to go. We don’t have to risk our lives. Let us tell you that in a written reply to a question in Parliament in March 2021, the Ministry of Home Affairs had said that out of 6000 posts under the PM package, 3800 are migrant candidates, who have returned to Kashmir in the last few years. 520 migrant candidates have returned to Kashmir after the removal of Article 370 for such a job. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had met Rahul Bhatt’s family at Sheikhpura Camp on 23 May. and assured the residents that their problems would be resolved. The administration has also appointed nodal officers in Kulgam, Budgam and Anantnag districts to address ‘Employees’ Grievances – PM Package / Migrant / SC / ST / Rajput and others’. But Kashmiri Pandit employees do not agree with this. He has also refused to return to work.
