The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has issued an action plan for the government procurement of wheat. It has been told that in the Rabi marketing season 2022-23, 444 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased (Wheat Procurement) will go. Never before had such a big target been set. Last year 433.44 lakh tonnes of wheat was purchased. Then 49,19,891 farmers got benefit from its Minimum Support Price (MSP). These farmers got about 86 thousand crore rupees as MSP. At present, once again the maximum quota of 132 lakh metric tonnes has been allotted for Punjab. Here in 2021-22 also 132.22 lakh tonnes were procured. Whereas, there is a target of 129 lakh metric tonnes for Madhya Pradesh. While the lowest quota of 0.18 lakh tonnes has been fixed for Delhi. This time the value of wheat has increased due to the Russo-Ukraine war. Conditions are being created for its more export.
In most states, procurement will start from April 1 and will continue till June 15. On Sunday, the Haryana government issued a statement saying that the procurement of wheat would be started from April 1. Apart from this, the purchase of gram and barley will also be done at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). While the work of procurement of mustard has been started. Mandis and procurement centers have been opened in the state to purchase wheat, gram, barley and mustard at the minimum support price.

The concerned departments have been instructed to make necessary arrangements for all the procurement process in the mandis. During the procurement process, preparations are being made on a large scale to ensure that the farmers coming to the mandis do not face any problem. The spokesman said that for this Rabi season, the minimum support price for wheat is Rs 2015 per quintal, gram Rs 5230 per quintal, minimum support price of barley Rs 1635 per quintal and mustard Rs 5050. per quintal has been fixed.
In Haryana, wheat will be procured by Food and Supplies Department, Hafed, Haryana Warehousing Corporation and Food Corporation of India. The procurement of gram will be done by Hafd, the purchase of mustard by Hafd and Haryana Warehousing Corporation and the purchase of barley will be done jointly by the Food Department of India, Hafd and Haryana Warehousing Corporation.

What did the Madhya Pradesh government say?
Preparations for wheat procurement are going on in MP also. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has told the officials that there should be no shortage in the arrangements for wheat procurement. Godowns should be arranged for storage. He said that the export of wheat should be promoted. Wheat should be procured keeping in mind the new provisions of registration in Rabi season 2022-23. There is a system of registration through biometric verification in the procurement centers. Along with this, arrangement has also been made for the nominee in the registration. Arrangements have also been made for registration of Aadhaar-less, old and physically disabled farmers. In the new system, a provision for slot booking has been made in place of SMS.
