Even after registering the produce, the farmers could not sell the gram at the procurement center. Now the paddy growers are not able to sell their produce at the minimum support price.
Farmers’ problems increased
Paddy growers got a big relief due to the opening of government procurement centers in the district. Farmers were also getting two paise, because food grains were being bought at a fixed rate i.e. minimum support price. Had the government center remained open till June 15, then all the goods of the farmers would have been sold, but due to the fulfillment of the target of procurement, it has been decided to close the procurement center. So now the farmers are facing problems. At the same time, the question is arising in the minds of the farmers that what to do with the rest of the produce, the farmers are angry due to the sudden closure of the center by the District Marketing Officer. The target was to purchase 9 lakh 12 thousand 468 quintals of food grains in the district. After its completion, it has been decided to close the procurement centers.
Paddy is now being sold at a low price
Paddy was being procured from the farmers at the procurement center at the minimum support price. Now after the closure of the purchase center, the arrivals in the open market will increase and the prices will fall. Apart from this, the traders will harm the farmers by charging arbitrary rates. Even after the purchase center is closed, farmers are reaching there with their produce, but they are feeling disappointed.
Chana procurement center was closed prematurely
The gram procurement center in the state was scheduled to remain open till May 29, but officials said that the target of gram procurement has been met, so it is being closed prematurely. After this the farmers protested and then permission was given to keep the procurement centers open till 18 June. But after that once again all the centers of the state were closed overnight. The result was that 1 lakh 10 thousand farmers could not sell their gram even after registration.
