just litchi (Litchi) season is underway. Farmer (Farmers) Harvesting litchi and bringing it for sale in the market. To get more benefit from litchi crop, farmers can pay special attention to some things only after harvesting. Actually, right now the litchi crop is in its last phase. In such a situation, it is important for the farmers to know what they should do to get a good yield in the next season. There are two main factors for this, that farmers should start harvesting and harvesting according to the age of the tree only after plucking the fruit. Senior fruit scientist Dr SK Singh in a conversation with NewsNCR Digital is giving information to the farmers that from the time of harvesting litchi crop to what should be done to get a good crop in the next season.
Dr. Singh says that after planting litchi plants, proper care is required for the first 3-4 years. In the first 3-4 years, unwanted branches of the plants should be removed, so that proper development of the main stem can take place. After this 3-4 main branches should be allowed to develop in all the four directions, due to which the shape of the tree is shapely, the structure is strong and fruiting is good. For good yield every year in fruit bearing plants of litchi, plucking fruits with 15-20 cm branch at the time of harvesting gives good buds in the next year and increases the yield. In full grown plants, due to the denseness of the branches, sunlight does not reach the interior of the plants, due to which outbreaks of many insects and diseases have been seen.
pruning of fruit bearing lychee tree
Fruit scientist Dr Singh says that as we all know that the fruits in litchi are found only in the outer parts of the tree. The tree whose shape is like an umbrella, it bears maximum fruits. Therefore, by cutting and pruning, try to make the shape of the tree like an umbrella. After harvesting the fruits of litchi, new buds emerge in it, on which flowers and flowers appear in January-February.
Why is it necessary to pluck leaves?
If at the time of harvesting fruits, 15 -20 cm twigs are cut along with the bunch with a sharp tool, then healthy buds develop from the same branches in July-August, on which fruiting is good. Apart from this, cutting the thin, dry and non-fruiting branches inside the litchi plants from the place of their exit reduces the outbreak of insects and diseases in other branches. After harvesting, applying copper-oxychloride (copper-oxychloride) coating on the cut part of the branches does not cause any kind of infection. After pruning, proper care of the plants, use of manure and fertilizers and weeding under the plants leads to the development of good buds. Yield also increases.
pruning small plants
The main purpose of pruning in the newborn plants of litchi is to form the structure. This allows the plant to produce fruit continuously for a long time. By removing unwanted branches of the main stem of the plants for the first 3-4 years, good development of the main stems is done and intercropping is also easy.
what is the height required
Keeping 3-4 main branches in all four directions at a height of about 1 meter above the ground makes the plant structure strong and fruiting good. From time to time, shears and straight upward branches should be cut.
manures and fertilizers
If your tree is 15 years old or more than 15 years, then add 500-550 grams of diammonium phosphate, 850 grams of urea and 750 grams of murate of potash and 25 kg of well-rotted manure from the main stem around the plant. It should be used by making a ring from a meter away.
If your tree is younger than 15 years, then divide by 15 in the above dosage of fertilizers and fertilizers. After this, multiply it by the age of the tree. Here there will be a dose of manure and fertilizers for that tree. In gardens where symptoms of zinc deficiency are visible, giving 150-200 grams of zinc sulphate per tree along with other fertilizers in the month of September has been found beneficial.
