161.95 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured from 11 states so far
Rabi season is about to end. Under which these days the process of harvesting wheat is in the final stages in many parts of the country. However, in the meantime, the process of procurement of wheat at MSP has also started in the states. In which the process of wheat procurement at MSP was started from April 1 in states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, while in Bihar the process of procurement of wheat at MSP has been started from April 20. In this regard, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has released the total data of wheat purchased at MSP from 11 states. Which is till May 1. Under this figure, 161.95 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased from 11 states so far.
Punjab’s share in total purchases is more than 50 percent
According to the data released by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution for wheat procurement at MSP, till May 1, a total of 161.95 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured at MSP. Out of which the share of Punjab has been more than 50 percent. For example, out of the total purchase made at MSP so far, more than 50 percent wheat has been purchased from the farmers of Punjab alone. According to the data of the ministry, till May 1, 8910562 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from Punjab at MSP. After this 737264 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from Haryana at MSP.

The farmers of Punjab are the largest in selling wheat at MSP. For example, wheat has been procured at MSP from the total number of farmers from 11 states. Out of this, more than 50 per cent share has been with the farmers of Punjab. According to the data of the ministry, till May 1, wheat has been procured from a total of 1470033 farmers from 11 states. Out of which 737264 are farmers of Punjab alone. Haryana is at number two in this category. So far 282424 farmers of Haryana have sold wheat at MSP.
