The months of October and November are the most important for the farmers. In these two months, farmers sow Rabi crops. In the Rabi season, farmers have the option of sowing crops like wheat, gram, mustard, peas, potatoes and sugarcane etc. Apart from this, farmers can also earn lakhs of rupees by cultivating brinjal in these days. Brinjal crop is ready in two months.

Brinjal can be grown throughout the year in all seasons including Kharif and Rabi. Brinjal is also cultivated as a mixed crop. Eggplant is used in many ways in the diet. In Maharashtra, this crop is cultivated in about 28,113 hectares.

What should be the land and weather for the cultivation of brinjal?

Eggplant grows well in dry and hot climates. Cloudy weather and uniform rainfall do not affect the crop of brinjal. Eggplant grows well at an average temperature of 13 to 21 degree Celsius.

Eggplant can be grown in all types of light to heavy soils, but eggplant grows best in medium to dark soils with good drainage. If the pH value of the soil is 6 to 7 then the growth of the crop is good. The production of brinjal is good in the alluvial soil of the river.

Method of sowing brinjal in the field and seeds of brinjal

To get more production of brinjal, proper planting of brinjal seeds should be done. The distance between two plants should be taken care of. The distance between two plants and two rows should be 60 cm. Before planting the seeds, the field should be leveled by plowing the field 4 to 5 times in a good way. Then beds of the required size should be made in the field. In the cultivation of brinjal, 300 to 400 grams of seeds should be applied per acre. After sowing the seeds to a depth of 1 cm, they should be covered with soil.

Irrigation in Brinjal Cultivation

Watering at the right time is very important for getting high yield in the cultivation of brinjal. Water should be given after every 3-4 days in summer season and in winters water should be given at intervals of 12 to 15. Maintain soil moisture and water regularly to protect the crop during foggy days. Take special care that water does not stagnate in the brinjal crop, because brinjal crop cannot tolerate standing water.

Fertilizers and Fertilizers in Brinjal Cultivation

Fertilizer should be applied according to the soil test in the cultivation of brinjal. If the soil test is not possible, then 20-30 tonnes of decomposed manure should be mixed in the soil while preparing the field. After this, 200 kg urea, 370 kg super phosphate and 100 kg potassium sulphate should be used.
