Farmers can adopt mushroom production as a business, varieties are present for the whole year

Dr. Ashok Kumar Godara, Co-Director (Training) of Saina Nehwal Institute of Agricultural Technology, Training and Education, Hisar, has said that Mushroom is such a business that landless, educated, uneducated, youth and girls can all take up self-employment. Huh. Haryana and Central Government are encouraging farmers and unemployed youth and women to adopt mushroom production as a form of agricultural diversification.

Godara said that business can be done by growing different species of mushroom throughout the year. For example, by growing white button mushroom (October to February), Dhingri (March to April), milky or paddy straw mushroom (July to October), business can be done throughout the year. This will be a big step towards self-reliance.

Mushroom is full of nutritional and medicinal properties

Agricultural scientists said that Haryana is maintaining its position after Punjab in mushroom production. Most of the farmers in Haryana cultivate white button mushroom. Mushrooms close the farm as soon as this crop ends in 3-4 months. The method of applying Dhingri and Milky Mushroom is very simple. Apart from being more produced from white button mushroom, they also have more deliciousness, nutritional and medicinal properties.

What is the benefit, where will you get the seeds

Proteins, vitamins, minerals, salts, amino acids etc. are also found in abundance in Dhingri and milky mushroom. Many types of medicinal properties are also present in these mushrooms, which are helpful in protecting the body from diseases like high blood pressure, sugar, cancer, heart diseases etc. Seeds of White Button Mushroom, Dhingri Mushroom, Milky Mushroom etc. are available in the Mushroom Technology Laboratory of Plant Disease Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU).

Farmers do not buy old seeds

Godara has advised that the mushroom business should be started from a single room or shed. Slowly this business should be taken forward. Also, before buying a seed, it should be thoroughly checked that there is no other fungus / bacteria in it. Also the seed should not be too old.

Lab visible to the trainees

He threw light on the methods of making value added products like Khumb Ka Achaar, Biscuit, Murabba, Papad, Vadis, Chutney, Kadhi and Candy from mushrooms. Along with this, 59 trainees from Haryana and Rajasthan, who were involved in the three-day vocational training on Mushroom Production Technology organized by the institute, also got a visit to the Mushroom Technology Laboratory.
