77-year-old Dr. Munishwar Chandra Davar, who lives in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has been selected for the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian award. Dr. Dawar treats people in Jabalpur for just Rs.20. He sees and treats around 200 patients daily. Along with this, in this era of inflation, they accept a nominal amount of Rs 20 as fees.
On the occasion of 74th Republic Day, the list of Padma Shri recipients has been released on Wednesday evening. There is also a name in that of Dr. Davar living in Jabalpur. Doctor. Dawar was born on January 16, 1946 in Punjab (Pakistan). He came to India after partition. In 1967, he completed MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course from Jabalpur. He also served in the Indian Army for about a year during the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971, after that since 1972 he has been providing health services to the people in Jabalpur.
‘Only aim is to serve the people’
Doctor. Dawar says that he started treating people for Rs 2 and currently he charges only Rs 20 as his fee. In a conversation with the news agency, Dr. Dawar said- There was definitely a discussion in the House regarding taking such a low fee, but there was no dispute regarding it. Our aim was only to serve the people, that’s why the fees were not increased. Dr. Dawar says that the basic mantra of success is- if you work with patience then you definitely get success and success is also respected.
‘Hard work pays off’
On being awarded the Padma Shri, Dawar said that hard work sometimes pays off, even if it is delayed. It is the result of that and it is the blessings of the people that I have got this award.
Dawar’s son Rishi said- We used to think that awards are given only because of political reach, but the way the government is finding people working on the ground level and honoring them, it is a very good thing and our Father has received this award. Dawar’s daughter-in-law Suchita said that it is a matter of great pride for us, for our family and for our city.
