DMK criticized central government for ‘income tax searches’ at residence of party chief Stalin’s daughter

Duraimurunag claimed that the Center had in fact created a ‘misconception’ that a search just before the election would leave Stalin, his family and the party stunned and the preparations for the election would be weakened.

Senthamarai, daughter of MK Stalin

In Tamil Nadu, the DMK condemned the central government over the ‘search’ done by the Income Tax authorities at the Chennai-based residence of Centhamarai, the daughter of party chief MK Stalin, alleging that it was motivated by ‘political motive’. Party general secretary Duraimurugan said that at a time when the party is in the stage of completing the election campaign and looking at the way of voting, the Income Tax authorities searched the house of party chief Stalin’s daughter Senthamarai with ‘political motive’. So far the Income Tax authorities have neither confirmed nor denied this search.

Speaking to reporters here, Duraimurunag claimed that the Center had in fact created a ‘misconception’ that the search just before the election would leave Stalin, his family and the party stunned and the preparations for the election would be weakened. He said, “DMK is not a party that can be intimidated by search.” He said that the party has seen such incidents before and it will not be affected by it.

The Income Tax Department had searched the premises associated with party leader AV Velu.

He said that recently the Income Tax Department had searched the premises associated with party leader AV Velu and now the house of Santhamarai has been searched. Such a move of the central government is neither ‘democratic nor honest politics’ and he condemns this move. He said that if the party had been afraid of such a search, it would have been ‘over’ long ago. Such steps strengthen the party in its intention.

He said that the central government may have thought that Stalin would not see his beloved daughter unhappy but the DMK president is the ‘leader of millions of party workers’ and he is a ‘brave lion’. When he was asked to conduct searches in the premises of leaders of AIADMK and other parties of BJP in the state, he said that the raids of DMK people were done to intimidate them and the rest was fraudulent.
