Protest against Hindi in Maharashtra, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray.
The statewide protests against the triggered policy of the Maharashtra government have now intensified. On July 7, a big movement is going to be held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai under the leadership of “Shaleya Shikshan Practice Committee”. This movement can also support Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT).
Protests regarding the formation of Professor Narendra Jadhav Committee constituted to implement the Tribhasha Formula by the government are continuously increasing. Committee member and educationist Deepak Pawar said that from July 7, people from all over the state will gather against the government's decision in Azad Maidan from morning. He clarified, “Even though the government has retreated two steps, the old orders of the triple policy, but by forming the Narendra Jadhav Committee, it is preparing to move forward four steps. It is unacceptable.”
Pawar also questioned the appointment of Prof. Narendra Jadhav and said that Prof. Jadhav is not an expert of child education, so why was he entrusted with the responsibility of a sensitive sector like language policy?
12 -point demand letter issued
The Shaleya Teaching Exercise Committee has placed 12 major demands before the government before the agitation, some of which are important demands as follows:
- The plan to implement the third language from class 1 to 5 should be completely canceled.
- School Education Minister Dada Bhusa and SCERT Director Rahul Rekhawar should resign immediately.
- The Hindi language eligibility test should be stopped immediately.
- The imperative of NCERT books should be banned.
- White paper should be issued on the increasing use of Hindi in state education.
Political support and government targeted
This protest is being linked to the conservation of Marathi Asmita and mother tongue. Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray have already opened a front against the government on the issue of Tribhasha Policy and “being imposed” of Hindi.
The committee has accused the government of drawing and avoiding decisions for political gains on serious subjects like transparency and education. The committee says that the public's confidence is being cheated and if the government does not change the decision with immediate effect, then this movement will take more wide form.
The Azad Maidan demonstration to be held on July 7 can prove to be the biggest mass movement against the triple policy of the Maharashtra government so far.
