The court has given this order in relation to the alleged provocative speeches given by Sharjeel in Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh and Jamia area of Delhi.

A Delhi court (Delhi court) by Sharjeel Imam (Sharjeel Imam) against Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), charge of sedition in respect of alleged provocative speeches made by him in Jamia area of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi (sedition charges Case) ordered to be fixed. In his speech, Sharjeel had talked about cutting off the land (Chicken Neck) connecting Assam with the rest of the country. Which the court has now considered inflammatory. In the case, the court has ordered framing of sedition charges against him. Many other cases are also going on against Sharjeel.
According to the information, Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat has given this decision. According to his order, a case will be registered against Sharjeel Imamal under sections 124A (sedition), 153A, 153B and 505 of IPC and section 13 of UAPA. The court said that Sharjeel Imam will have to face trial for the speeches given in December 2019. The court has considered those speeches inflammatory. Sharjeel Imam is accused that in his speech he had talked about cutting off the land (Chicken Neck) connecting Assam with the rest of the country.
“Can separate Assam from India”
Sharjeel gave an alleged inflammatory speech on December 13 in the year 2020, the video of which went viral. In the video of Sharjeel’s speech which went viral on social media, he is purportedly seen talking about cutting Assam from India. In this speech he is saying that if we have organized people then we can separate Assam from India. Assam can be separated from India for a few days if not forever.
Bail granted in Jamia University violence case
In December 2019, there was an incident of violence in Jamia University over the students’ protest against CAA. Sharjeel Imam got bail in this case some time back but he is in jail. Sharjeel Imam is also an accused in three more cases related to Delhi violence.

53 people died in this violence and more than 700 people were injured. A case has been registered against Sharjeel Imam under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Sharjeel Imam was also arrested in another case under UAPA and sedition for alleged inflammatory speeches in two universities in 2019. In the speech, he had allegedly threatened to separate Assam and other northeastern states from India.
