The Supreme Court has asked the Delhi High Court to decide on a petition seeking registration of an FIR against politicians for alleged hate speech in the Delhi riots case. The Supreme Court has directed the High Court to take a decision on registering the FIR within three months. In fact, a demand has been made in the Supreme Court to register an FIR against the leaders in the hate speech case. Now the Supreme Court has asked the High Court to decide the matter. In fact, the petitioners had filed a petition against BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma and Abhay Verma seeking registration of FIR and SIT investigation. Now the Supreme Court, while disposing of the matter, has directed the High Court to decide.
While hearing the matter, the Supreme Court said on the petition of the riot victims that at present, it can ask the High Court for an early hearing. Let us tell you that three victims of the 2020 Delhi riots had filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that the Delhi High Court is not hearing the petition of the leaders in the Hate Speech case. The petitioners had said that they have demanded registration of an FIR against BJP leaders for giving hate speech to incite riots. But the High Court is not hearing his petition. Now the Supreme Court has directed the High Court to take a decision on the FIR in the hate speech case against the leaders at the earliest.
‘Decision to be taken on registering a case in 3 months’
The Supreme Court has given the High Court three months to dispose of the matter. Now within three months, the Delhi High Court will have to decide whether an FIR should be registered against the leaders on the hate speech case. Explain that during the 2020 Delhi riots, BJP leader Kapil Mishra was accused of making provocative statements. BJP leaders Pravesh Verma and Anurag Thakur were also accused of giving hate speech.
