In the country’s capital Delhi, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday that the Delhi government is closely monitoring the situation arising out of the growing threat of Omicron. At the same time, the Health Minister has also ruled out the possibility of imposing a lockdown in the city. Jain said that the government has already prepared a ‘graded response action plan’ and it will be implemented when the cases and infection rate increase. He said that the Delhi government is investigating all the people coming from countries affected by ‘Omicron’ form.
In fact, in a statement issued by the Health Department, Jain has said that there is no possibility of imposing a lockdown at the moment. The minister said that 93 percent of the eligible population of the capital has been given the first dose of the COVID vaccine, while about 60 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated. He told that the infection rate in Delhi is currently around 0.11 percent. The minister said that GRAP will be implemented in four phases in different colors. It will start with the infection rate reaching .5 percent. Further, only after it reaches 5 percent, there will be a situation of complete lockdown.
Central government should stop flights – Health Minister
It is worth noting that according to Delhi government’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain, instead of imposing a lockdown, the government will apply GRAP if the cases increase. Also, he has advised that to avoid the new variant, apply social distancing and mask as before. Also, those who get the vaccine also need to take precautions. Jain said that there has been a demand that the central government should ban flights coming from countries affected by the Omicron variant.
Delhi government has decided 4 color codes according to the infection rate
Let us inform that in the month of August, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had formally approved the GRAP. At the same time, the Delhi government had implemented it with immediate effect. In this, 4 color codes were fixed according to the infection rate. At the same time, the first phase is to start at 0.5 percent infection rate. Also, the second phase will be applicable if the infection rate is one percent. The third phase will be active if 20 people are found positive after doing 1000 tests, that is, if there is a 2 percent infection rate. Work on the fourth phase will be done after reaching 5 percent of the cases. In such a situation, no lockdown of any kind will be imposed yet.
