Delhi Energy Minister Satyendar Jain also congratulated the residents of the national capital for not increasing the electricity rates. He tweeted that there has been no increase in the rates of any category this year.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday congratulated Delhiites for not increasing electricity prices in the last seven years. The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on Thursday announced electricity rates for the financial year 2021-22. After this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and said that congratulations Delhi. No change in electricity price in Delhi for the 7th consecutive year. On one hand, while electricity prices are touching the sky in other states, Delhiites are not only getting 24 hours cheap electricity, but up to 200 units of free electricity.

Pension surcharge increased from 5 percent to 7 percent
Electricity regulator DERC on Thursday announced new rates without any hike in prices, saying it does not see any good reason for doing so. However, there may be a partial increase in electricity bills of consumers from October 1, as the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has increased the pension surcharge from five per cent to seven per cent.

On the other hand, to give a boost to the real estate sector, the Delhi government on Thursday decided to extend the discount of 20 percent in circle rates for another three months till December 31. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government will continue to help Delhiites on every front. Officials said that this relaxation scheme was launched in February this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic and was to end on September 30.

Announcing the decision on Twitter, Chief Minister Kejriwal said that the discount of 20 percent in circle rates will continue. We will not allow the people of Delhi to face any kind of trouble during this pandemic. We will stand with the people of Delhi on every front and every step. Delhi Revenue Minister Kailash Gehlot also said that the government will help the public at all times of need.
