The official monitoring the evacuation of people in the Erasama block of Jagatsinghpur district said that it has become a difficult task to maintain the norms of social distance while evacuating people. Nevertheless, we are trying to convince people not to take the risk and shift to cyclone shelters and pucca houses.
The seaside block was devastated by the 1999 super cyclone and around 10,000 people were killed at that time. The official said that we are planning to start the work of evacuating people on Monday evening or Tuesday morning. Although some sections of people are angry about this, they are afraid that they might get infected with COVID-19 in Cyclone Shelters.

So far, around 100 people have been shifted to Okilopal Cyclone Shelters, while 20 pregnant women from Talchua and Rangani have been shifted to Rajnagar Community Health Center.
He said that the block administration has prepared 46 cyclone shelters and 51 school buildings. It is being planned to shift about 35,000 to 40,000 to temporary shelters.
