The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the cyclone is very likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over east-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department said that the cyclonic storm is likely to move in a northwest direction by May 10 and move towards north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts adjoining the northwest region of Bay of Bengal. Thereafter, it may turn north-northeastwards direction and move towards Odisha coast in northwest Bay of Bengal.

Keep your documents and valuables in a water-proof container.

If you feel that your home will not withstand the cyclone, then take shelter in a safe place.
During cyclone, fishermen should carry a radio set with extra batteries and boats should be tied up in a safe place and away from the sea.
What to do during or after cyclone
Shut off all electric power and gas supply.
Keep all doors and windows closed.
To avoid any infection, drink only boiled and chlorinated water.
Just rely on official warnings, listen to the radio for official updates.
Do not go into damaged buildings as they can fall at any time.
Beware of broken electric poles, wires and other sharp objects.
Arrangements were made to evacuate 7.5 lakh people
Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena said that arrangements have been made to evacuate 7.5 lakh people in 18 districts if any such emergency situation arises due to the coming cyclonic storm. Due to the intensity of the storm, fishermen have been advised to stay away from the eastern and southeastern parts of the Bay of Bengal on Sunday and central parts on Monday and Tuesday.
