In the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Monday, the interim president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, clearly stated that the schedule for the election of the next president of the party is ready. However, after the opinion of some party leaders, the election for the post of president was unanimously postponed. The CWC took this decision in the wake of the Corona epidemic. Apart from this, Sonia Gandhi, breaking the silence on the election results today, said in the meeting that the results of the recent assembly elections show that things will have to be rectified in the Congress. He said that small groups will be formed to know the reasons for the defeat in the elections.
On the election results, Sonia Gandhi said that the Congress needs to take the right lesson from the defeat and it is important to know why such results have come. He also said that we did not get a single seat in West Bengal, which was the most surprising thing. He said, “We need to take cognizance of these serious tremors. It will be less to say that we are very disappointed. My intention is to form a small group to look into every aspect that has been caused by these tremors and report should be taken very soon from it. ”
“Party leaders will explain the reason for the defeat”
He said that if I say that I am disappointed with these results, then it will be like covering the reality. He said, “It is necessary to understand how we lost the election so badly. There will be some uncomfortable lessons of these questions, but if we do not face the reality, if we do not see the facts correctly, we will not take the right lesson. Regarding the results, the elected leaders of the party will tell the working committee the reason for the defeat. Jitendra Singh talks on Assam, Jitin Prasad on West Bengal, Dinesh Gundurao on Puducherry and Tamil Nadu and Tariq Anwar will give information on Kerala. ”
Earlier, on the election for the post of president, Sonia Gandhi said in an online meeting today, “When we met on January 22 this year, we had decided that the election of the president of the Congress would be completed by the middle of June. Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry has set the election schedule. Organization General Secretary Venugopal COVID-19 and will read it after discussing the election results. ”
The Congress, which was hoping to return to power in Assam and Kerala, had to face defeat in the assembly elections. At the same time, the party could not get a single seat in West Bengal. She suffered a crushing defeat in Puducherry, where she was in power until a few months ago. It was a relief for the party in Tamil Nadu that its alliance led by DMK won.
Government surrounded the situation of COVID
Apart from reviewing the situation of the party, Sonia Gandhi took a dig at the central government and said that she has failed on the corona infection case and there should be vaccination of everyone in the country immediately. He said that Congress is with the government in this hour of trouble. Scientists are now talking about the third wave, so the health system of the country needs to be repaired immediately.
