Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high level meeting on Saturday about the condition of corona virus infection in the country and the vaccination campaign. In this meeting, apart from the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs and Secretaries of other departments were also involved. PM Modi is constantly meeting to review the preparations to deal with the second wave of COVID-19. Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi held a review meeting on the status of oxygen and medicines in the country.
In the meeting on Wednesday, the Prime Minister was told that medicines being used in black fungus along with COVID-19 are being actively monitored. The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the ministers gave an update to the PM that they are in constant contact with the manufactures to increase production. During this time it was told that medicines are being made available in good quantity to the states.
The Prime Minister’s Office had reported that during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, oxygen supply is now 3 times more than the demand for oxygen, while in the last few weeks there has been a significant increase in the production of all medicines including RemdesiVir. On Friday, through video conferencing, PM Modi said, “After 100 years, such a terrible epidemic is taking the test of the world step by step. There is a very invisible enemy in front of us and this enemy is also polymorphic. Because of this, we have lost many of our close ones. “
He said, “I am feeling the same pain that the countrymen have endured for some time and the pain they have gone through.” The Prime Minister said that any deadlock related to resources in comparison with the second wave of Corona is being rapidly overcome and efforts are being made to work on a war footing. 3.26 lakh new cases of infection in the country
He said that the country’s doctors, health workers, sweepers, ambulance drivers, lab workers, all have gathered round the clock to save one life each. There were 3,26,098 new cases of Corona virus infection in the country on Saturday. The total number of infections in the country has increased to 2,43,72,907, in which 2.04 crore people have been cured. At the same time, after the death of 3,890 more patients in the last 24 hours, the number of dead has increased to 2,66,207.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of patients (active cases) being treated for COVID-19 has come down to 36,73,802 which is 15.07 percent of the total cases of infection. At the same time, the national rate of recovery from COVID-19 is 83.83 percent. The highest number of deaths in the country since COVID-19 is 79,552 in Maharashtra, 21,085 in Karnataka, 20,907 in Delhi, 17,056 in Tamil Nadu, 16,957 in Uttar Pradesh, 12,993 in West Bengal, 11,477 in Punjab and 11,461 in Chhattisgarh.
