To overcome the shortage of anti-viral injection remodevir, the Indian government is also considering buying it from Egypt, Uzbekistan, UAE and Bangladesh amid the ever increasing crisis of corona infection in the country. American pharma company Gilead Science has agreed to provide 4.50 lakh vials of Remedisvir to India. Despite this, to meet the huge demand in the country, Indian officials in these countries are working on the purchase of Remedisvir.
In view of the increasing demand for Remadecivir, the Government of India this month prohibited the injection and export of its active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) until the situation improved. According to the Times of India report, the officials termed the diplomatic victory that Gilead Science has decided to donate 4.50 lakh vials of injection and at the same time it will also provide raw materials to speed up local production.
The Government of India had said a few days ago that the production of Remedisvir in the country will be increased to about 78 lakh vials (vials) per month. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said in a statement that seven manufacturers of Remedesvir currently have a production capacity of 38.80 lakh vials per month.
The first consignment of medical supplies, including oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators from the US, is expected to reach India on Friday. According to the report, government sources denied that India had not sought AstraZeneca or other available Kovid-19 vaccine before the US. An American official said this week that India had never demanded a ready vaccine.
Expect to get vaccine from America
Sources, however, said that the US was told at least twice about India’s vaccine requirement. India hopes that America will provide something in AstraZeneca’s 10 million doses, and in addition 5 crore doses are in different stages of production. Sources said that India has also demanded raw materials for the production of Kovid-19 vaccine along with ready doses of vaccine from the US.
India is not going to reject any kind of help, although it was clarified that there is no international appeal for help and supplies are being made mainly through the Indian Red Cross Society. The entire focus of foreign procurement is on oxygen production plants, oxygen concentrators and small and large oxygen cylinders, as the country is facing difficulty in transporting oxygen from various plants to hospitals. Many countries came forward to help India
Sources said that given the situation of Kovid-19, there has been no response from China on India’s offer to help and there is no restriction on commercial procurement from China. No response has been given so far in the case of Pakistan. Several major countries including the US, Russia, France, Germany, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Luxembourg, Singapore, Portugal, Sweden, New Zealand, Kuwait and Mauritius helped India against the new wave of Kovid-19 Has announced to provide medical aid for.
