Referring to the CDC guidelines, US President Joe Biden said that the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 is very low for those who have taken a full dose of the vaccine.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced last week that people who have taken both doses of the vaccine need not wear masks. After this decision of CDC, a new debate was created in America and other parts of the world on the rule of wearing masks or not. According to the CDC website, as of May 17, the US has “fully vaccinated” 47.4 percent of its population above the age of 18 years.
Health experts and doctors in India say that the decision of the CDC is not scientifically correct. According to an India Today report, Dr. JA Jayalal, President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said, “At least 70 percent of the population is considered herd immunity after developing an anti-body.” He said that it is not possible to relax the COVID rules in India right now. “There is no scientific evidence so far that the US has developed herd immunity against COVID-19.”
Dr. Jayalal told, “The strain of the virus seen in India (B.1.617) is highly contagious. The current vaccine was 70–80 percent effective against earlier mutations, but only 40–50 percent effective against this strain. ” He also said that people who have taken both doses of the vaccine do not necessarily give protection against new mutations. Recently, citing the death of Dr. KK Aggarwal, he said, “Dr. Agarwal had taken both the doses, but there were problems in him. A fully vaccinated person can also infect others, which is ignored in US guidelines. “
Things are different in India, cannot be relaxed – Dr. Chand Vattal
At the same time, Dr. Chand Vattal, head of immunology department at Gangaram Hospital, Delhi, told India Today that the situation in America and India cannot be compared. He said, “There is a great difference in the population and vaccination status of the two countries. Whatever they are doing, we have too many cases here. We can not relax. People in India must keep following double masks and social distancing. ”
He said that this is the situation today due to the relaxation of restrictions related to Corona at the beginning of the year. He said, “We were exempted from January and thought that the threat of the virus was over. And now this is the situation. ” Experts in the Health Ministry as well as the advisory panel of the government have also appealed to take precautions against the exemption in the protocol. AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria also recently said that the virus is continuously mutating and there is not enough data to say that the vaccine will be effective against the new strain.
Biden was seen without a mask after the CDC announcement
After the announcement of the CDC, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were seen without masks. Referring to the guidelines of the CDC, President Biden said that the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 is very low for those who have taken full doses of the vaccine. He had said, “If you have taken the entire dose of the vaccine, then you do not need to wear a mask. But if you have not got the vaccine or you have just taken the first dose or have not waited two weeks after the second dose, then you still need to wear a mask. ”
The CDC said in its new guidelines that people taking both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can resume their activities without wearing masks or social distancing. According to this, people traveling within the US do not have to undergo an examination or stay in isolation before or after the trip.
