Monday was a relief amidst the third wave of corona virus infection in the country. In many states, there was a decrease in the rapidly increasing new cases today. 28,286 new cases of infection were reported in Maharashtra on Monday, which is 12,519 less than Sunday. The total number of people infected so far in the state has gone up to 75.35 lakh. At the same time, after the death of 36 more people due to infection, the death toll has gone up to 1,42,151. The number of active cases in the state is still 2,99,604. During the last 24 hours, 86 new cases of Omicron variant were also registered.

However, the reduction in cases of infection is also a reason for less testing in the weekend. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 14.74 lakh samples were tested across the country on Sunday. Whereas earlier on January 22, 18.75 lakh samples were tested across the country and on January 21, 19.60 lakh samples were tested. According to the Union Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate in the country is 20.75 percent, while the weekly infection rate has been 17.03 percent.

In the southern states- Karnataka and Kerala, cases of infection were increasing rapidly. Both these states also registered a decline on Monday. There were 26,514 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Kerala and 13 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The number of people who lost their lives to COVID in the state has gone up to 51,987. At the same time, there are 2,60,271 active patients. Earlier on Sunday, 45,449 new cases were reported in the state.

Positivity rate in Karnataka is around 33 percent

At the same time, a slight decrease in new cases of infection was seen in Karnataka today. 46,426 new cases were reported in the state and 32 deaths were recorded. The number of active cases here is 3,62,487, which is the highest in comparison to any state. The positivity rate in the state has been registered at 32.95 percent. Earlier on Sunday, 50,210 new patients of infection were found in Karnataka.

In the national capital Delhi, 5,760 new cases of COVID were reported and 30 patients died in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases here is 45,140. According to the data of the Health Department, the positivity rate came down to 11.79 percent. In Gujarat, 13,805 new cases of corona were reported and 25 deaths were recorded. The number of active cases here is currently 1,35,148.

On the other hand, if we look at the situation of infection in the electoral states, 11,159 new cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Monday and 17 deaths were registered. Here the positivity rate was recorded at 6.19 percent. In Uttarakhand, 3,064 new cases of corona virus were reported and 11 people died. The positivity rate in the state has been recorded at 11.76 percent. At the same time, the number of active cases is 31,280. There were 1,387 new cases of infection in Goa and the positivity rate was recorded at 32.45 percent. The number of active cases here is 18,933.

On Monday, 5,778 new cases of infection were reported in Punjab and 39 deaths were recorded. The positivity rate in the state was recorded at 14.49 percent. The number of active cases here is 45,645. At the same time, 411 new cases of COVID were registered in Manipur and the positivity rate was recorded at 16.4 percent. The number of active cases here is 3,413.

On Monday, 3,06,064 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country. After this, the number of infected in the country increased to 3.95 crore. At the same time, the number of active patients has increased to 22,49,335, which is the highest in 241 days and it is 5.69 percent of the total cases. According to the data of the Ministry of Health, after the death of 439 more people in the country due to infection, the death toll increased to 4,89,848. The national rate of recovery of patients in the country has come down to 93.07 percent.
