CCI purchase stopped
As long as the price of cotton was less than the MSP, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) was in the procurement, so the farmers were getting MSP, but when they started getting higher than the MSP in the market, they started selling in the market itself. And the purchase of CCI was discontinued.
According to market sources, due to increase in area under cotton, this year, there may be a shortage of seeds. In the cotton season 2020-21, farmers of the country cultivated cotton on a total of 129.57 lakh hectares.
Last year production
According to the Cotton Association of India assessment, the total cotton production in the country has been 358.50 lakh bales (170 kg in one lump) in the current cotton season 2020-21 (October-September).
At the same time, the total supply will remain 495.50 lakh bales, including the last year’s outstanding stock of 125 lakh bales and imports about 12 lakh bales.
How much mustard crop be this time?
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this time the yield of mustard can be higher than before. It is believed that the yield of mustard was 91.2 lakh tonnes in 2019-20, which is likely to increase to 104.3 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. It is being said that till now there has never been so much mustard production in the country.
